Alongside his work as a musician, teacher and sound engineer, Tom also works in media production as a photographer, videographer and video editor. Having spent many years working within theatre productions, live music events and performance environments, he has developed a strong understanding of how to capture live performance in a way that reflects the energy and atmosphere of the moment.
Tom regularly photographs and films theatre productions, live concerts, dance shows and community events, working closely with performers and organisers to document performances and create media that can be used for promotion, archives or social media. His experience working behind the scenes in live performance settings allows him to anticipate key moments and work discreetly within rehearsals and live shows.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, Tom has increasingly worked with clients to produce and edit video content, helping artists, performers and organisations create engaging visual media. Projects have included band music videos, promotional videos, commercial content and recordings of theatrical and dance productions. Through this work he has developed a strong skillset in video editing and post-production, allowing him to shape raw footage into polished and engaging final productions.
Tom’s first major film editing role came with the documentary Tribute: The Richard Atkins Story, which is now available to rent or buy on Amazon Prime Video. The film tells the inspiring story of Richard Atkins, exploring his life, career and the impact he had on those around him. Through interviews, archive material and performance footage, the documentary celebrates Richard’s dedication to his craft and the lasting influence he left on the people and community he worked with.
