Expert Instruction
Since beginning to teach in 2017, Tom has built a busy and rewarding teaching practice, offering lessons in piano, music theory and music production to students across Guildford, Godalming and the surrounding areas. In addition to his private teaching, Tom also teaches students at Cobham Free School four days a week.
Tom believes that learning the piano should be an enjoyable and rewarding experience rather than a chore. His lessons are tailored to each student, focusing on developing strong musical foundations while keeping the learning process engaging and motivating.
Alongside learning to read and play music, students are encouraged to develop a deeper understanding of rhythm, musical structure and music theory in a way that feels natural and accessible.
Tom teaches a wide range of styles depending on each student’s interests, from contemporary and popular music through to more traditional classical repertoire.
For students who wish to follow graded examinations, Tom prepares pupils for exams with both Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) and Trinity College London.
Most lessons take place in students’ homes, and since moving to Godalming Tom has also begun teaching more students locally in the area.
